Making
Golf History in Dubai
Later
this year, the 2008 PGA tournament
season will end with the inaugural
Dubai World Championship, the world's
richest tournament with a record-breaking
purse of $10 Million, November 19-22.
This championship will take place
at one Dubai's newest golf properties,
the Earth
Course at Jumeirah Estates Golf Resorts,
designed by golf legend Greg Norman.
Inspired
by the natural elements of Fire, Earth,
Water and Wind, Jumeirah
Golf Estates draws on the
remarkable talents of some of the
game's most famous names: Greg Norman,
the 'Great White Shark'; former world
champion Vijay Singh; European Ryder
Cup hero Sergio Garcia; and the father
of modern course design, the legendary
Pete Dye.
To
be held annually, the tournament will
be open to the leading 60 players
on the 'Race to Dubai', formally the
European Order of Merit - with players
also being given the opportunity to
compete for an additional $10 million
bonus fund.
In
2009, Dubai will become the European
Tour's international headquarters,
with the organization based at and
operated from a purpose-built facility
within Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Leading
women's golf champion, Annika Sorenstam,
also recognizes Dubai beauteous golf
landscape, and has chosen to play
the last tournament of her professional
career this December at the Dubai
Ladies Masters a true testament
to Dubai's reputation for one-in-a-life-time
opportunities.
The
Dubai Ladies Masters will be held
at the Emirates

on the PGA golf circuit for hosting
the Dubai Desert Classic. With its
