Ever heard of St. Jude Golf Club? Maybe, maybe not... Located just 2 ½ hours from the Canadian/American border, St. Jude, until about three years ago was a strictly private golf club that was very difficult to get on unless you received an invitation from a member to play as their guest. That all changed when Canadian businessman Colin Dunwoody with a resume spanning 30 years in the golf industry was given the opportunity to purchase the Club from the Fuhrer family.

The course opened in 1927 and was designed by legendary golf course architect Emil Loeffler. St. Jude is consistently voted in the top 20 in Western Pennsylvania (there are over 250 golf courses in Western PA). The course is a challenging but fair test of golf from the professional tees and given its multiple tee locations can be enjoyed by all skill levels. It is also one of the very few golf courses that you will find yourself using every club in the bag from the back tees.

With stunning views of the Alleghenies, St. Jude is a gently rolling course with tree-lined bent grass fairways. The course is also widely regarded as having some of the best putting surfaces in Pennsylvania for the past 20 years.

Featuring more than 50 newly renovated bunkers and over 70 separate teeing areas, St. Jude is a par 70 challenging course that can be enjoyed by all skill levels, with a distance of 4,827 yards from the forward tees to 6,712 yards from the professional tees.

One should not underestimate the length from the tips, the course plays a deceptive 6,712 yards, making it a favorite among top players. For the 2011 season, St. Jude will be opening a new state of the art practice facility.

After your round our distinct clubhouse, wrapped in cedar shakers, invites guest with its warm, relaxed atmosphere. St. Jude offers amenities for golfers including lockers, a stocked pro shop and superb options for dining and drinks after the round. They are known for their creative cuisine and memorable private events.

In 2009 the clubhouse was renovated and expanded to twice its original size, including the opening of a new signature restaurant under the direction of executive chef Adam Straley. The restaurant is already known for its house specialty steak dishes, international fare and is priced very reasonably. Looking to the future, plans are in place to further improve and expand their amenities. This includes adding a new extension to house a pub and tavern with a large bar offering a large selection of domestic and foreign draft beers along with a wide choice of bottled beer, specialty drinks, spirits and wines. Live music will also be offered on a regular basis. The pub/tavern will offer spectacular views of the Alleghenies. On a clear day one can see the water tower of Clarion University 40 km in the distance.

Starting in late summer the club will be embarking on a new construction project of building onsite cottages with spectacular views of the golf course.
