This stately old course was designed in 1938 by Joe Zalogy, who incidentally designed the nearby River Forest Golf Course. A very mature layout that is both picturesque and challenging. All of the trees and rough areas are manicured to keep up the speed of play on this par 72 public golf course. The greens are in good shape and are very receptive. Prices range from $22 US for seniors on weekdays to $33.50 US for adults on weekends, including cart so this course is ideal for all caliber of golfers.
Hole #1 is a tricky opening dogleg left par 4. We played from the whites at 366 yards. Do not hit anything more than a 5 wood off this tee unless you want to cut the corner but you may very well run out of fairway and into the river. Not the way you want to start after a good drive.
On hole #4 you’ll have to bust a driver
down this very narrow and tree lined
par 4. Careful of the snap hook!
Do not use driver off the tee on 9 since
my 3 wood only can up 5 yards short of
the water. This will leave you with a long
iron to a very this protected green.
Hole # 18 can be a bear! Ranked as
the
toughest hole on the course, this
dogleg
left 4, par 4, is 422 yards from
the whites
(472 for the blues) but your
approach
shot is the challenge. If
you’re short,
you’re in the water. A
great finishing
hole!
