There's a new kid on the block, turning heads in the electric golf trolley community. Dura Caddy Electric Golf Trolleys enters its second season by generating interest, primarily, thanks to its noticeably lower price.

"We're not trying to reinvent the wheel," says Tom Sutton, owner and distributor of Dura Caddy. "We're just making it more affordable."

Sutton, a ten-year veteran in leisure sports equipment on both the wholesale and retail level, says Dura Caddy was developed after he noticed a gap in the electric trolley market.
"We found there wasn't much of a selection out there for electric golf trolleys, and what already existed was very pricey," he says. "We saw an opportunity to offer a quality product at a more reasonable price."

Following twelve months of research and hands-on testing on a very hilly course in Quebec, two Dura Caddy units were introduced: The remote controlled Rover RC, and the manually controlled Pro Tour.

Sutton says both models needed to meet the highest standards in four main categories: Affordability, durability, power, and reliability.

"We put both models through an entire season of testing under all possible conditions during actual rounds. We can now confidently put the Dura Caddy trolleys in the hands of customers, knowing they're the best thing available," says Sutton.

By far the most popular model is the remote controlled Rover RC unit, available at $999.95. Among its most convenient features are the ability to move in reverse, four cruise control speeds, and its ability to turn on a dime, thanks to two separate motors that allow the wheels to operate independently. It also comes with manually operated controls, should something happen to the hand-held remote control unit, and can also be pushed freely, in the unlikely event that something happens to the battery.

"The Rover RC is really a lot of fun to use," says Sutton. "It's incredibly simple to operate. Within a couple of rounds, using the remote control unit becomes second nature, and you don't even have to look at the controls anymore to dictate the speed and direction of your trolley. It just becomes an extension of you."

The Pro Tour manually operated unit is a good basic model for those who just want something that will carry the bag effectively and reliably. Priced at $499.95, it's lightweight and compact, weighing in at just 23 pounds without the battery, and is equally as powerful as the Rover RC.

Both the Pro Tour and Rover RC units come with an adjustable front wheel that can easily be re-aligned as needed, and a front wheel bumper that doubles as a carry handle.

"It's actually very surprising how much physical energy is saved by using a Dura Caddy," says Sutton, who vows he'll never carry his clubs again, now that he sees the difference in his game. "With a Dura Caddy doing all the grunt work for you, you can focus one hundred percent of your physical energy on your game during the entire round."

More energy means less fatigue on the back nine, and less fatigue means better shots.
"The belief that you need to be a certain age before it's time to use an electric trolley is a myth," explains Sutton. "Everyone can benefit from using a Dura Caddy, no matter how young, old, or in shape you are."

The maintenance required to keep the Rover RC and Pro Tour trolleys in optimum operating condition is minimal. As long as the battery is kept on charge when not in use, says Sutton, and the bearings are lubricated annually (easily done at home), a Dura Caddy trolley will perform very well for many years.

Keeping the units clean is also a piece of cake, consisting of little more than giving the wheels a quick wipe-down after a wet or muddy round. Furthermore, Dura Caddy offers a convenient carry bag that will go a long way in keeping the trunk of your car clean from any grass or dirt the trolley may have picked up along the course.
