Whether you are there for the golf or if you are lucky enough to be part of one of the many conferences hosted by this exquisite resort nestled in the mountains of West Virginia you are in for a treat. Glade Springs is mostly a golf and conference resort, and with as much business that is done on the courses these days they go together like Aunt Jamima Pancakes and maple syrup. The courses are outstanding, both Stonehaven and The Cobb, have earned Glade Springs a 4 ½ star rating from Golf Digest in their “100 Must Play Courses”.
Tucked away in the lush mountains of West Virginia, Glade Springs is a place that offers as much as many of
the higher priced resorts in
America, however it is also
a place that encourages
you
to
loosen your tie and
just
have a good time.
There’s
no better example
of that
than
in the newly
opened
Bunkers lounge,
where the
good food and
good times
quickly puts you
in a good
mood. Being a golf and
conference resort, Glade
Springs offers the best of
everything to keep those
two groups happy. The
courses are top quality with
The Cobb being the tougher
of the two and Stonehaven
being the more beautiful
– one of the most beautiful
and enjoyable to play in the
U.S., as a matter of fact.
Besides the 48 rooms
attached to the Inn, Glade
Springs offers manor
houses
which look like they
jumped off the pages of a southern novel; Oak Lake villas; executive suites; Chestnut Hill lodges; and the Stone Manor, which can sleep up to 9 people. The manor houses and villas are perfect for golf groups and Glade Springs’ attractive 2-day golf packages – starting at $139 – and accommodation attracts many of them. The manor houses alone can sleep up to 16 and the villas can be reconfigured to accommodate 12 at a time.
Both those venues come
with the best of everything
and the villas are state of
the art in every way. The
Stone Manor offers an added
bonus – it overlooks the
charming
second green at
Stonehaven.
All the latest
in
modern
conveniences can
be found
in the rooms,
which
are
large and spacious
with
comfortable beds that
lull
you to sleep.
Have we kept you in
suspense about the golf
long enough? Well, it is
worth waiting for! The Cobb
Course is consistently
ranked one of the best golf
courses in West Virginia, as
a matter of fact one of the
best of over 300 that
George Cobb has designed.
This course has over 200
feet of elevation change, 54
sand bunkers, eight lakes,
ever-changing sun angles,
and fairways that subtly -
or suddenly - slope the "wrong" way. You'll quickly
learn that every green has
its own quirks and pin
placements can make or
break your score.
The
Resort at Glade
Springs has completed a
comprehensive upgrade to The Cobb Course lengthening it to over 7,000 yards while maintaining the classic integrity of its original design. Along with the numerous aesthetic changes, championship tees have been added to all eighteen holes. In addition to the newly expanded teeing areas, several fairway bunkers have been strategically placed throughout the course. To prepare for your round our newly renovated and expanded practice facility will help sharpen your skills.
The most recent addition to Glade Springs, Stonehaven is a new 18-hole championship course compliments the existing Cobb Course. The topography is dramatic, featuring striking rock outcroppings, and a meandering path through a forest of mature oak, maple, beech and hickory. The course has some of the most spectacular holes in West Virginia, along with a great variety of par 3's and par 5's anywhere on the east coast.
Tips: This is a splendid place to drop anchor at any time of the year but especially in the fall when the lush mountains become colorful quilts as the trees put on their autumn coats. Families will really bond here. Play the Stonehaven course first – it’s a great test but its beautiful surroundings will put you in the right frame of mind before tackling the tougher course Cobb Course.
